For my second year university project, I aimed to create something which encouraged people to reuse their old clothes. I created a scheme called Project Upcycle and from this created several different outcomes which all work together to encourage and help people to find ways to reuse and upcycle their clothes. I wanted the outcomes to have a handmade feel to them which reflects the hand made quality of people's upcycled clothing.
First, I made a range of clothing tags which can be hung on coat hangersĀ  in shops or to replace normal clothing tags.
Secondly, I created postcards that can be placed on counters at shops or put into shopping bags when a purchase is made. These postcards included information about Projects Upcycle on one side and on the other will be an image which will make the postcard more of a keepsake and make it more interesting to look at.
I then created an upcycling pack and guide, which will include everything people need to upcycle an everyday piece of clothing. I included a needle and thread and pieces of material so that everyone would have everything they need to create the projects that are in the guide. The packs are small enough that they can be included in fashion magazines or newspapers so that they are accessible for everyone and are reaching people who are interested in clothing
